Message to the Church at Pergamum

Today in the Word we look at our third of seven letters. First was Ephesus, a hard-working church, which lost its first love. Then came Smyrna, a persecuted church, which Christ encouraged to remain faithful. Today we learn about Pergamum, which is known as a church that that compromised with the world. Are we willing to stand against the world?  In order to stand, we must allow the Word of God to reach into our innermost being and remove what is unnecessary and heal what is broken.  Are we willing to be a church that believes the Word of God above every other influence?  Will we believe it so deeply that we will not be swayed even when subjected to social pressure, rejection, or being considered an outcast?
