All Things

Pastors are often called upon to deliver "bad news" to families. I will always remember the night that I had to sit with two young women, and tell them that their father was dead and that he had given up on life and took his own. I knew these young ladies well and loved them as sisters Christ. Both were joyfully engaged, looking forward to building their lives with the men they loved. For months and even years after, the girls built their lives, but always wondered why this had to happen at just such a time. The truth is, they may never know, but from Romans 8:28 we can be assured that God will work all things for His glory, even the suffering and sin of man. In Romans eight he declares that our present suffering, be they ever so many and severe fade into insignificance, when compared with our future glory. This whole great chapter is meant for true believers in Christ. It provides great assurance for the struggling saint.
