The Truth of the Matter

Today in Esther seven we finally come to the climax of our story, the tables are turned, Haman’s treachery is exposed, and the Jewish nation is saved. This is a happy story for the nation of Israel and God’s providence in rescuing them is the true message of the book, but how sad is it that sin always ends in calamity? An unknown author once penned these words, “Sin always takes your further than you intended to go, keeps you longer than you intended to stay and cost you more than you intended to pay.” These are wise words indeed, for we see them played out in both the seemingly innocent sins of life and the most egregious. Even vile Haman would go back and do things differently, if he only would have known how far it would go and how much it would cost.
